Two Honors for Attorney Lawrence J. Moran, Sr.

Prominent Attorney is named to The PA  Board of Law Examiners while also receiving a  rare dual trial certification.

It’s been a busy week for Scranton based attorney Lawrence J. Moran, Sr.   The well-known personal injury and criminal lawyer was tapped by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to serve on the PA Board of Law Examiners.  Moran was also notified he successfully achieved a rare recertification as both a Civil Trial and Criminal Trial Advocate.

Lawrence J. Moran, Sr. is one of only two attorneys nationwide to have held the difficult to achieve dual-certification in Civil and Criminal Trial Advocacy since 1994. Approximately three percent of American lawyers are board certified.   Board Certification is the highest, most stringent, and most reliable honor an attorney can achieve.  The National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA) oversees standards and testing for the certification process.

Mr. Moran was also honored by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court with an appointment to serve on the Board of Law Examiners.  The board is responsible for determining who meets the minimum qualifications for competence , character and overall fitness to be admitted to the practice of law in Pennsylvania.  Attorney Moran will be one of seven members, the only from Northeastern Pennsylvania, to serve a three-year term on the Board.  Board members are asked to donate their time and legal expertise to serve.

Attorney Lawrence J. Moran, Sr. concentrates his practice representing the victims of serious, catastrophic and fatal injuries. He maintains a particular emphasis in advocating for victims of Civil Rights violations, especially on behalf of children who have been seriously mistreated and abused by their teachers and school districts.

Lawrence J. Moran, Sr. earned his undergraduate degree magna cum laude from the University of Scranton. He is a graduate of Villanova University School of Law. Mr. Moran is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, has been admitted to the Bars of the Supreme Court of the United States of America, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and both State and Federal Trial and Appellate Courts in Pennsylvania. He has served as the Chief Trial Lawyer in the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office prosecuting major felony cases. He has also previously served as General Counsel for Litigation for Lackawanna County where he supervised numerous lawyers in the handling of a wide variety of lawsuits in which the county was a named party. By appointment of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, Mr. Moran is a member of the Pennsylvania Board of Law Examiners. Attorney Moran is the founder and principal of The Moran Law Group, LLC. He also is Of Counsel to the Scranton, Pa. based law firm of Lenahan and Dempsey, PC. In addition to private practice, Mr. Moran currently serves as the Chief Public Defender for Lackawanna County.
