SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) A lawsuit has been filed in a sexual abuse case involving a former vocational instructor.

The Moran Law Group is representing four students who were sexually abused by former Career Technology Center of Lackawanna County automotive instructor, Richard Humphrey.

Humphrey pleaded guilty last year admitting he molested up to ten males in the school year 2016-’17.

The lawsuit is seeking damages from the center, Lakeland, Mid Valley, Valley View and Scranton School Districts.

“They didn’t protect them when they should of protected them. They didn’t help them when they needed help and they retaliated against them for seeking help and reporting this behavior,” said Attorney Robert Moran, one of three lawyers for four victims.

Four more students will be filing a lawsuit with different attorneys.

Humphrey is serving at least 11 months in jail. One month for each of the victims. He will have to be on three years probation and register as a sexually violent predator for the rest of his life.
